March is Women’s History Month, a time for reflection and to recognize the countless women who have shaped families, communities, and movements for change.

This week I am writing to you from New York City while attending the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, where leaders, advocates, and organizations from around the world are gathering to discuss the role women continue to play in building more peaceful and equitable societies.

Being here has reminded me that conversations about peace often happen at the level of nations and global policy. Yet the foundation of peace begins much closer to home. It begins in everyday relationships where we learn how to listen, respond, and navigate conflict with one another.

As parents, the way we handle difficult moments teaches our children how conflict works in the world. In the Conscious Parenting Revolution, we often see the cycle that appears when control replaces connection: the 3Rs of Retaliation, Rebellion, and Resistance. These reactions are not signs that children want conflict, but signals that they need understanding and guidance.

When parents pause, reflect, and respond with awareness, children learn something powerful. They learn emotional regulation, empathy, and that disagreement does not have to lead to disconnection. Over time, these lessons shape how they interact with others far beyond the home.

The conversations happening at the United Nations remind us that peace is not only shaped through global policy. It is also shaped quietly every day in the way parents guide their children through conflict, understanding, and connection.

Creating a culture of peace does not happen all at once. It grows slowly through the relationships we nurture every day, beginning with the way we guide our children.

Honoring the Women in Our Community

During Women’s History Month, I also want to acknowledge the many women within our Conscious Parenting Revolution community who are doing the meaningful work of raising families with awareness, compassion, and courage.

Every day, mothers and caregivers are guiding difficult conversations, modeling emotional regulation, and helping children learn how to navigate conflict with empathy. This work may not always be visible, yet it has a profound impact on the culture we create in our homes and communities.

To all the women in our community who are choosing connection, reflection, and growth in their parenting journey, thank you for the leadership you bring to the next generation.

The culture of peace we hope to see in the world often begins in the smallest and most meaningful place: the relationship between a parent and a child.
